Eventing
Francesca Silver has been selected for the Wellington/Wairarapa Eventing Area Team which will compete in the National NZ Pony Club Horse Trial Championships in Auckland on the 16-18th of April. This has been her aim since early 2008 and she had some stiff competition against her.
Francesca has won two of the three trials to select the team, was the highest scoring Junior rider (under 17), and is the youngest in the team. She also won the trophy for the highest Junior dressage points.

Eammon Pearless was also selected for the DC Team (under 17).
This means that two of the six riders (3 seniors and 3 juniors) representing Wellington/Wairarapa are Kuranui College students, which is an even more significant achievement as they are the only Wairarapa riders in the team - the rest are from Wellington. Well done to you both!

Playing Uniform
It has been brought to my attention that incorrect playing shorts/skirts and socks are worn during games. The correct items can all be purchased from the sports office. It is essential that all players are in full, tidy uniform in every sport and at every game.

College Van
Please ensure that safety belts are worn at all times to and from your games.
Please change in to clean gear after the game before entering the van. All players must make sure that the van is clean and tidy after use.
If the van arrives back late in the evening and is not clean, the captain will be called in to delegate players to clean the van at interval.

On Monday night in the Wairarapa Premier 1 netball final, the team pushed the winners, Celtic, all the way in a thrilling fast paced game which could have gone either way right up until the final whistle. The final score of 50-48 to Celtic was a credit to the fight and determination of the Kuranui team.
At the end of the season Te Ata and Waimarama were named in the Wairarapa Secondary Schools Squad and four players, Jade Gould, Waimarama Phillips, Lauren Crimp and Chantelle Gleeson were named in talent squads for further training. Congratulations girls on a great season!

A game against Tawa was played to decide if we would be playing for 5th/6th or 7th/8th. Although Tawa are at the top of the table in our Wellington league, the team played out to a 0-0 draw at full time then lost on penalty strokes in extra time; a great effort by the Kuranui team.
